The war took everything away from us since I was six. We thought it would cease within sometime. It did not. This is a story of a Syrian girl who has been on a displacement journey since childhood. She penned her story at the age of sixteen, from a child’s viewpoint, expressing the anguish of all Syrian children — even more, it voices the children’s cry of suffering from the scourge of conflicts around the world.Based on real life events, the author chose her protagonist to be a boy, intending to make it the story of all Syrian children, not hers. This narrative was composed to embody the voice of childhood and its merriment which was robbed by the ferocity and cruelty of war

Born in Homs, Syria in 2001, where she lived until the beginning of the war in Syria. Together with her family, she was forced to be displaced from one region to another in search of safety
and have not settled to date. At the age of sixteen, Engy was enrolled in one of the United World Colleges (UWC), given full scholarship to obtain the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Engy’s goal to make education a force which unites the world and establishes sustainable peace motivated her to join this college; a goal which was and still is a dream of Engy’s and her family. Afterwards, she embarked on her university studies at Norwich University of Arts in England, where she is still studying Animation
A visual artist possessing multiple specialties who studied Interior Design in Al-Balqa’ Applied University (BAU) and Art at the Jordanian Institute of Fine Arts. He launched his first solo exhibition, titled ‘Urban Mood’, in 2006. He worked as a team member of the famous children’s programme ‘Pink Panther and Pals’. He illustrated around 30 children’s books for a number of Arab and foreign publishing houses. Some of them were translated into several languages. Manasrah was nominated for numerous international awards and won a number of them; for instance, ‘Etisalat Award’ in 2016 for Best Illustration and in 2018 for Book of the Year. He also won the ‘Mahmoud Kahil Award’ for Graphic Illustration in 2019 and was shortlisted for the international ‘Hans Christian Andersen Award’ in 2020
